Arlene Rose Fischer

Arlene Rose Fischer, the daughter of Jacob and Christina (Erbele) Fiechtner, was born on June 1, 1937 on a farm Northwest of Lehr, ND. After graduation from the eighth grade, Arlene went on to help her parents on the farm. She met her husband in Streeter, ND one evening and after a year of dating they were united in marriage on October 9, 1955 in Lehr, ND. Together they lived on Jerrolls parent’s farm. Two daughters were born to this union, Jerilyn and Melicent. In 1962, they moved to rural Audubon, MN, where they farmed and raised dairy cattle. After having an auction and selling the farm, Arlene and Jerroll bought a home in Elizabeth, MN in 1990. During their retirement, they lived in Wheaton, MN in the summer and Mission, Texas in the winter since 1999. Arlene’s past times were hosting Tupperware parties for neighbors and friends, traveling with Jerroll in the motorhome, camping with family, and going to a good rummage sale. The word hospitable helps describe Arlene. She always made sure her family came first in her life and that they felt loved. She bought new dresses for her girls every Christmas and Easter, cooked and baked favorite meals for her family, and also was ready to help at any time with chores or fieldwork. Arlene worked hard and always kept a positive attitude. She always had a coffee and a snack for anyone who stopped by her home for a visit. Arlene also lovingly cared for Jerroll’s mother in her home for years. Another word that describes Arlene is prayerful. She attended many bible studies and enjoyed every church she attended in Minnesota and Texas. Words like loving, caring, hardworking, family orientated, and conservative also give an insight to the person Arlene was. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Arlene R. Fischer died on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Bethany Home in Alexandria at the age of 78 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents, six brothers (three in infancy) and a sister Lorraine Kirschenmann. Arlene is survived by her husband of 60 years Jerroll Fischer of Alexandria; daughters Jerilyn Fischer-Arnold (husband John Arnold) of Moorhead and Melicent Hansen (husband Jeff) of Alexandria; four grandchildren Sean Basol of Aberdeen, SD, Susanne (Matthew) Dehnert of East Grand Forks, MN, Jennifer (Joe) Sandaker of Osakis, and Christine (John) Randall of Alexandria; seven great grandchildren Hosanna, Abigail, Kaiya, Kohana, Elizabeth, Charles, and Allexis; sisters Alma Kappes, Alice (Paul) Janke, and Marion Huseby; aunt Esther Fiechtner; and numerous family members and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 10 AM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria, MN. A visitation will be from 4-7PM with a 4 PM Prayer Service on Friday at the Anderson Funeral and also for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment was in the Kinkead Cemetery.
